The development of the currently named game "Invasion Containment" |
Got an information screen up and running. The only thing left now is, “drum roll”
EXPLOSIONS!
Update! The game is almost ready for release!
This is a new enemy I added, it moves faster. I think i’m getting better at pixel art! (I have no idea why it it so enlarged in this post)
Yes I have been working on this. Here is an update video.
I have decided on the name! yahhhhhhhh! it will be “invasion containment”. I’m also getting my friend to work on the music, and i’m probably going to get a beta video out soon.
It can now shoot left, right, and up. I’m working on the movement of the enemies.
I really think i’m going to go through with this game, so here is my idea for the plot:
aliens invading earth, pig man comes to the rescue, and has to stop their invasion. Be in awe of my extreme creativity.
If you haven’t heard of Legend of Grimrock, Its pretty amazing so you should look it up. Its basically an old school dungeon crawler modernized. I’ve played quite a bit, and I would have to recommend it.
Its coming along quite nicely so far. I think its going to be a game where aliens are spawning every 1 second, and you have to kill them over and over in order to contain their population. once their population reaches 15 or something, its game over.
so far I have a lot of the art down, movement, collision, and shooting.
things to do:
-name
-possibly polish movement
-fix shooting in only one direction
-make aliens spawn every second
-make aliens move towards player
-hud
-alien counter
-main menu and failure screen
I know, i’m terrible. Physics was too much for me, so I bombed on the previous project. Now i’m making one that I hopefully won’t get stuck on. The picture of the pig-like thing is the hero, and the other red thing is his enemies. haven’t decided on the goal or name of the game yet.
(pictures are kind of broken… drag them into your address bar to see the full pictures)
I got the “Programming in Lua” book for Christmas, so i will start up programming again.
